You are right, of course, but, sadly, middle-class values are
unexamined, and therefore rather shallow. The liberal European
tradition is invention, rather than convention. Hitler saw this, and
it gave him the opening he was looking for. Holocaust-deniers are
taking advantage of the same vulnerabilities, but are far more
dangerous to Open Societies than Hitler was, who thought himself to be
guided yet seized opportunities created by an evil-minded, vindictive
and greedy reparations settlement.

If, now, the horrors of the death camps are successfully denied, there
will be little hope for millions who are oppressed across the world,
never mind that all you often have, if you are Jewish (though not
only), is memories - or at best a few pictures, letters, you cry
over.

The work of Simon Wisenthal and his colleagues, not sufficiently
acknowledged, has brought to the forefront the notion of war crimes
through an international court, even resulting in some convictions,
and  though it is yet inchoate, is, am sure, operating as a deterrent
of sorts.

Work to make it stronger!
