Hi Folks - another difficult repair job.

I have been asked to retrieve data from an old RODINE RO-200
winchester type disk. At this stage it looks like a fault with
the read/write board, the controller is reporting a drive error
and the led on the drive blinks 3 times in succession.

The disk has been running in a Q-bus PDP_11 via a Dilog DQ614
controller and is set up to look like DEC 'RL' type disks.
I hope to swap the r/w board and recover the data on the disk.

Anyone got a spare RO-200 (good or bad condition) ?

Anyone got any documentation to decode the error code ?

Any other suggestions to recover the data.

I am located in Sydney Australia.

Yes. I think it is a 20 Mb version. Condition unknown.

Unlikely I have info on the DQ614.

I am in Melbourne Australia.

I have an R0200 here somewhere, known working, as well as several AS-IS.
The "morse code" comes from the drive, not the controller (as one of
the other replys to your post suggested). In any case the "morse code"
would tell you what the problem is, but there usually isn't anything you
can do about it other than replace the drive or it's logic board.

If you don't find what you need closer to home, let me know
(I'm in the USA - East Coast, NYC area).

Note: Formerly with DEC - field service product support, PDP8, PDP11,
MicroVAX systems.
