The point being that Exchange will (as I use it) hang up >the connection before any mail waiting on demon can get sent >to WinDis. First, the developers of WinDis have stated that there will be no further development at all. It is finished, and works fine for most purposes. v3.1 was released in December 1995. Secondly, what you ask is impossible, because you cannot 'check the Demon mailbox for waiting mail'. It just doesn't work like that. WinDis (and all other programs which get mail from Demon) just sit there passively listening, and shortly after you dial in, Demon sends you the mail. There is nothing that a client program can do to either check for mail, or to accelerate its being sent. If your system disconnects before it has arrived, then must persuade it to stay online for longer. (OK - I know you can finger 'yourhost'@post to check for mail, but that's a special Demon extra, and still doesn't help you to retrieve the mail). -- Clarke Brunt (clarke@brunt.demon.co.uk)
