Perhaps I've got the wrong end of the stick
(awfully easy to see a posting that touches on a
favourite topic and think it's actually addressing
one's own problems).

But are you trying to send stuff via 'post' to cut
out multiple copies of mail going out? I keep
meaning to do some mods on Snews to improve that.

Having a post-processor to coalesce duplicate
msgs wouldn't well suit my style of working.
I often edit msgs later (I'm doing it now).
So which of several copies do I edit? And as
soon as I edit it, doesn't that mean that a
utility notices different recipients are getting
(slightly) different msgs, so they can't be
coalesced? That's why I think only the optimum
number of msgs should be generated at the outset
(and, subject to settings in .rc file, optimum
would usually be 1).

But Phil's comments about making a choice dependant
on time of day imply, I feel, that the best place
for *that* is either within ka9q (preferably) or
within a utility called immediately before ka9q
to split one multi-dest via-post msg into several
direct ones. I don't like the 2nd option because
how does the decision get backed out if Demon is
engaged?

p.s. Oh, sorry Mark, I forgot mods to Snews wouldn't
help you. :-) Isn't it time you switched to a
news/mail reader that has plenty of development
still going on?
