Extract from DISPC.TXT:
8.17 Other Information
----------------------
(...)
Destination mail domain
From mail address
Addressee of recipient.....
Addressee of recipient.....
Addressee of recipient.....
(...)
The second line is the reverse path for returning any messages
back to the originator.
Does this mean that putting (eg) "errors@holly.demon.co.uk" as the From
mail address would be a useful idea [*], or am I missing something? Would
this be a useful thing for mailing list software (eg SmofList) to set
automatically, so that non-delivery messages don't get sent back to the
list? Or is DISPC only telling part of the story?
[*] - Note: I am not suggesting everyone arranges for their bounce
messages to get sent to me - I would prefer people to use their own
address here :-)
On a seperate issue, DISPC.TXT says that sequence.seq holds the number of
the *next* message to be queued; in use by cppnews it appears to hold the
number of the *previous* message sent. Which is right?
Mark.
