Of course you don't know.  However, nor do you have to care.  This
suggestion would reduce the problems when mailing from Snews to the same
as when mailing from a mailreader.  It will eliminate the possibility
of mailing to a non-existent newsgroup, which was what the original
poster wanted.

This may not solve everything, but it produces a general improvement
with no downside AFAICS.
