We need a laptop. Preferably a beer-proof one.

:-) It would. I may try, or hope that someone else will.
Any takers?

I don't think this will occur. I have "smtp maxclients 9"
in my a/exec.net, and I think as standard it's only 12.

Is that definitely so? What a pity the enhancement in servers
wasn't accompanied by some extra command that could indicate
the availability, or something like the "XYZ spoken here" msg
that some generate at start up.

But if there's no way to find out, short of falling over,
there could be a config file for ka9q to read, with a list
of batch accepting servers.

Or, how about doing the check while offline? Preprocess
mqueue, moving batchable mail into a subdir 'mqbat'.
Then have two smtp clients, one for each subdir.

Excellent point. PLEASE, anyone with info.
