I guess that what you need is something cleverer than just swapping
entries in the BIOS table.

Have you tried Prn2File?

(I've not tried the latter, but the first I've used for some time. I'm
not sure whether I've tried it under Win95, but I think I probably
have.)

It would be trivial to modify demon.bat to redirect printer output to a
file, then send that file (if it exists) to the printer when snews
closes, before deleting it.

Note that prn2file creates a zero length output file if no printer
output is generated, so "if exist printer.txt" (eg) will always succeed.
DOS won't copy zero length files, so "copy /b printer.txt lpt2" should
work (not tested, though).

It may actually be possible to use prn2file to redirect to a device (eg
LPT2) rather than a file - I haven't tried.
