Interpretting email addresses

I'm modifying (or planning to modify) some code which converts a list of
addresses into a set of statistics, stating (for example) how many are
from the .uk domain, how many from .ro (Romania), etc. At present all it
does is list the domain part of the addresses without any description.

So the first question is: where can I get a reasonably complete list of
those domains?

In addition, however, I want to take it further. I believe, for example,
that "ven.net" is a Venezuelan ISP, so I want to list those as Venezuela
not just as ".net". Clearly this opens things up a lot, and I'm never
going to get a complete list of such domains. But does anybody have any
idea where I can get at least some of them?

[What I'm trying to do is offer feedback to members of an international
mailing list which I run, to answer the "is there anybody else from my
country here" questions that used to keep cropping up. Now that I have
the basic stats uploaded every week, those questions have gone, only to
be replaced by "I'm from Venezuela, why isn't that on the list", hence
the above example. In any case just listing the domain information as I
do at the moment isn't very user friendly, so I'd like to expand on that
at the same time (hence the first part of the question).]

There's what appears to be a complete list of country domains in an
appendix in Krol's "The Whole Internet" (at least, there was in the 2nd
edition and I assume it will have been retained since).

So there is - I had completely forgotten buying that book (mine is
actually a first edition but it's there anyway).

Incidentally, Roger@firedrake.dcu has just mailed me a list (though
whether it matches the Krol list I haven't checked); if anyone wants a
copy drop me a line (it's a 6k zip file). Thanks, Roger, for that.

I'm still stuck on the second part, though. Is there a list of
international ISPs around anywhere? There ought to be a way of pulling
the information from such a list if I can find one.

Or talk to my mail-server (mserver@firedrake.dcu):

setsec etext
get geozone4

will get it as zip+uue...
