dns with Win 95 / NT

I need to do something just the tiniest bit fancy. A port of BSD's
resolve functions (res_init, res_mkquery, ...) to Winsock would be
really handy, but having poked around in various corners of the net this
evening I can't find such a thing. It seems rather strange that nobody
else has done this, so maybe someone here has a better suggestion of
where to look, please?

Not knowing anything about NT or windows, I'd suggest a look at
NTBind: ftp://ftp.isc.org/isc/bind/contrib/ntbind/

The sources are available, and if it includes the reslover library,
it's possible that taking just the resolver library and porting it
other win32 systems may not be too bad.

But I sugegst you re-read the first sentance of my reply before
getting too excited ;-)

I was actually downloading BIND for NT when I posted the message, it was
taking a very long time, (ftp.drcoffsite.com are connected to the net
with wet string - email access@drcoffsite.com to get the password). The
files have the same names as those on the ISC site, I guess the
different file sizes are down to using different versions of zip - I'm
not particularly inclined to download the files for comparison.

It's got code for the resolver library, but it doesn't seem (on a first
read through) to know how to ask Windows for its DNS server addresses,
netmasks, ... One of my hopes was to avoid asking users to give my
application such info when Windows has it already.

ta for the input
