Hello disa gurus, can any of you help with this email-related problem. Whenever I receive emails from one particular person, Maildot seems convinced that the mail is blank except for a jpg of some clouds. However, if I use the "Save Whole Message" option and view the resulting file in a text editor it is possible to read the email's contents. The format of the emails is always the same, as shown below. (I have removed the "Received:" header lines and most of the jpg code to save on space) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Return-path: <My-friends-email-address@aol.com> > From: My-friends-email-address@aol.com > Message-ID: <59.69506c1.2d75982a@aol.com> > Date: Tue, 2 Mar 2004 02:56:26 EST > Subject: Whatever > To: dave@ravolox.demon.co.uk > MIME-Version: 1.0 > Content-Type: multipart/related; boundary="part1_59.69506c1.2d75982a_boundary" > X-Mailer: 8.0 for Windows sub 670 > > > --part1_59.69506c1.2d75982a_boundary > Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="59.69506c1_alt_bound" > > > --59.69506c1_alt_bound > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > > Blah blah blah > Blah blah blah > > > --59.69506c1_alt_bound > Content-Type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII" > Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable > > <HTML><FONT FACE=3Darial,helvetica><HTML><BODY BGCOLOR=3D"#ffffff" WIDTH=3D"= > 72" HEIGHT=3D"100" SRC=3D"cid:X.MA0.1078214186@aol.com" BACKGROUND=3D"cid:X.= > MA0.1078214186@aol.com" DATASIZE=3D"2082" ID=3D"MA0.1078214186"><FONT COLO= > R=3D"#010101" BACK=3D"#ffffff" style=3D"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=3D2=20= > PTSIZE=3D10 FAMILY=3D"SANSSERIF" FACE=3D"Arial" LANG=3D"0">Blah > blah blah<BR>Blah blah blah<BR><BR> > </FONT></HTML> > --59.69506c1_alt_bound-- > > --part1_59.69506c1.2d75982a_boundary > Content-ID: <X.MA0.1078214186@aol.com> > Content-Type: image/jpeg; name="Clouds.jpg" > Content-Disposition: inline > Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 > > /9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAgAAZABkAAD/7AARRHVja3kAAQAEAAAAZAAA/+4ADkFkb2JlAGTAAAAA > > --part1_59.69506c1.2d75982a_boundary-- > ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anybody able to enlighten me as to the cause, or should I just stop associating with AOL users? -- <Insert witty comment here>

No a guru myself Dave, but as nobody else has followed-up yet, I would
think it may well be a Maildot feature. If you like you can Forward a
non-private copy to me and I'll tell you how Thor deals with it.
Let me here first though, and I'll lower the spam shields. :)

I'd guess that your mail prog doesn't know multipart/related and just gives its best shot at decoding what it can. Since I don't know the prog I haven't got a clue if it copes with html, but the jpeg part is also the last section so that might be why that is all that shows. Personally I prefer answer 1 ;-) Paul (departs in a cloud of steam and mysteriousness)

Well, as you can see, I'm very busy doing nothing, so I must get back to it. Paul

Dah, you're just saying that 'cos you've lived with the windows filth so
long you think its healthy.

More Centari than Vorlon I would say. :)

Believe it or not, I really would love to see something viable with Amiga written on the case, I might even buy one if I did (just for the hell of it, I've been considering getting a Mac for something different). The reality is that 4.0 looks, and according to what I heard works just like 3.0. All the tools, utilities etc are all the same, it's just been rewritten for the PPC processor, not really OS development, just porting. I've said for years the old girl ought to be allowed to rest, shame they won't let her. >>Well, as you can see, I'm very busy doing nothing, so I must get back >>to it. > > More Centari than Vorlon I would say. :) I have to be careful, if you'd been here when I was watching that video of the guy installing OS4.0, you would have been kept here for many hours having it explained to you where it all went wrong, and while I could talk your ear off about it, I can't be bothered to type it. Plus I hate this keyboard, serves me right for dumping half a litre of Pepsi in my old one. Paul
