Nothing like this exists for the ST.  You might get a Unix newsreader like
TIN or NN running under Linux/68K or MiNTnet, but they're hardly ideal as
you would effectively have to download an article before you decided if you
wanted to save it or not.  Or you could try to get yourself an account on
a machine with a fast connection to a news server, so you could login using
telnet, read news, save interesting articles and then retrieve them with
FTP.  I've done this in the past myself - it's painful, but it works.

Incidentally, the program Free Agent does exactly what you're looking for,
and even tells you the size (in lines) of each article while you're browsing
the subjects.  Unfortunately, it's only available for PCs.
