startement against Demon.

It depends. You need to ask the prospective provider some questions: Do
they support SMTP for mail or provide a POP3 account as standard? Do they
provide a static or floating IP address (static is less hassle with NOS)?
Do they support SLIP and PPP, or just PPP (A choice at login like Demon and
Pipex offer is good, as it makes setting up other software like MiNTnet and
STiK easier with a choice. STiK only currently supports SLIP logins,
remember.)

If you can get fairly positive answers to these, then you should be OK in
my experience. I personally have NOS running with an account from
.netkonect, but it doesn't work with their newsserver very well, so I use
Demon's pubnews. Other people I've heard from have hooked NOS up to other
providers like MagNet and Pavilion Internet with only a little bit of
initial trouble.
