Only when I got the router or name-server addresses wrong.
Assuming you haven't changed anything like that recently,
is it just DNS lookups that're slow, or is it everything ?

What might have happened is that your Hosts file got
corrupted.  Before connecting, find the file 'MacTCP DNR'
in your system folder and trash it.  If that doesn't help,
make a new setup for your TCP/IP control panel -- type in
the details from scratch.
