~
~ I am trying to provide email access to users of a small LocalTalk network
~ using a standard dial up account. I have had endless trouble klutzing
~ around with AIMS and AIMS Localtalk Bridge.
~
~ My first problem was that incoming mail was being ignored by Eudora. I
~ seem to have fixed this by setting Addmail to multi-user mode and
changing
~ its host from post.demon.co.uk to a directory path which points at a
~ clearing folder which AIMS is set to save all mail to. I then let Addmail
~ redirect mail to each user's dropfile. Users can access their mail using
~ filesharing and their own Eudora settings. This seems to work. By the
same
~ token there seems to be no problem with mail going out to other domains
~ (with the help of AIMS Localtalk Bridge).

Set AIMS up as a server by set up each account in the AIMS account
information window. Create a new account for each of your clients by giving

them a name and a password set the forwarding option (in the popup menu)
to 'Save as archive', fill the place you want the mailboxes to be kept into
the box beneath the popup menu and click the enable box

In Eudora set your POP Account to point to the same file, but with a ! in
front, to tell Eudora it is a file its looking for

ie if the file your AIMS mailbox is

Ariadne:system folder:Mail Folder:Poptest

then the Eudora POP Account will be

!Ariadne:system folder:Mail Folder:Poptest

~ My real problem now is that internal mail doesn't seem to go anywhere.
~ Ideally I would like it to be sent out to post.demon.co.uk and then come
~ back in the normal way.

This is not nesseccary, AIMS is smart enough to distribute mail on your
network without it going to post.d.c.u.

But when I send test mail from
~ testuser@zink.demon.co.uk to testuser@zink.demon.co.uk, AIMS seems to go
~ into some kind of loop - the debug window endlessly repeating:
~ Moving message from testuser@zink.demon.co.uk to
~ testuser@zink.demon.co.uk
~
Your account for testuser@zink.demon.co.uk is not set up correctly - see
above

~ I have tried fiddling with the sending setup in AIMS but with no
~ appreciable results. I am somewhat hampered by my monumental ignorance
~ here.

Nothing in the sending setup will help
