Thanks - Jon - I did of course mean SMTP, not POP3 - I haven't done anything
to the server for a few months ;-)

The owner of the system wants the server to check for mail every minute - I
just wondered if there was a better way of doing it than getting the server
to redial every minute (they have a surftime account so at least they don't
have to worry about the bill).
