When you say you ahve one fixed IP is this assigned to the NT server
or is it on the outside of the router, with the router doing NAT?

In either case you should be able to use PPTP to connect to the
server.  I've never set that up on NT, just on Win2K, but it's Routing
and RAS that you need to look at.  PPTP uses TCP port 1723 and IP
Protocol 47 (GRE).  Your router must allow both of these to reach your
server.  Most cheaper routers will not tunnel GRE.
