After some long conversations with Demon, it turns out that my pc is
not happy with Demons 0844 number (and its 0845 equivalent) but works fine
on, for example, 0845 2120666. The trouble with that is that I am paying
BT for the "surf together" 0844 number, and don't wish to pay them again
for other numbers.

My Amiga is happily working on the same phone line without problems on any
of the numbers.    :-/

Demon didn't have an explanation as such, but took my phone number. I
haven't heard anything from them yet.

Any thoughts as to possible solutions?
