ADSL (Demon Express Plus) and SBS 4.0a

We are about to get ADSL and we have SBS 4.0a currently configured for
demon's Diva connection (dial-up)

Anyone have any experience with this type of upgrade and the pitfalls to
watch out for?

Thanks in advance.

Ketan,

This is a switch we did a while back -- from dial-up to Demon Leased Line.
ADSL will be similar[1].

In SBS, tell Proxy to no longer auto-dial and, erm, that's about it...

I assume you're getting the Ethernet ADSL service, as opposed to some form
of USB service. So, you'll have two NICs in your server; the existing one
for the 'internal' LAN (the 10.0.0.* part) and another for the ADSL
connection. Proxy will detect this and handle routing it's connections
between them.

One thing to watch out for in the Network configuration is to turn *off* the
"Enable IP forwarding" option in the Routing tab of the TCP/IP configuration
dialog. NT will turn this on by default if you have multiple NICs.

[1]: On a side-note, we are also getting a Demon ADSL package, and we'll
have 3 NICs in our main server for a while until the leased line is
cancelled..!

Hi Jon,

It sounds pretty much like what I had in mind. We are getting the
Ethernet ADSL service and I originally thought about turning on IP
forwarding but now realise that it would have been a big mistake.

Thanks.

Ketan.
