DOIP problem with PAP authentication

All of a sudden after re-installing OS/2 4.0, when I try to connect to
the Green ROMP or Energis using DOIP I get the usual prompts for
username, password and protocol, and then an error message about a
failed PAP authentication, and I get kicked off :-( 
Any idea of what I'm doing wrong?
