Anyone else running Changi having problems sending news to news.demon.co.uk? It was very reliable and quick but the recent news server change has almost broken my abilty to send posts. It takes a very long time to send the article, so much that chanx has timed out before now. Looking at the comport with PMLM it keeps sending the article but doesn't appear get any response from the server so sends again and again and again. This isn't tied to any particular article BTW any can suffer. My chanx commandline is: 'chanx -mxt -ld -dof news.demon.co.uk >> e:\changi\batch.new' Which I have been using successfully since July last year. Any clues? -- Cheers newspam@nexus.demon.co.uk Dave. I changed -mxt to -mxtr, this sends a MODE READER to the server. Demon just responds with the sign on banner again "200 news.demon.co.uk NewsBorg [nnrp-xx]". The connection with -mxtr sailed through, as it used to, now will this one? Have I cured the problem? Hope so I like simple ones. -- Cheers newspam@nexus.demon.co.uk Dave. Well since the changes, I've had to delete ALL the article numbers from news.watermark, and reload all the news groups. I suppose I could have just used teh catch up!! I don't know why, but twice in the last year I've had to do this. Maybe when a news server has an upgrade or something it changes the numbers. Dammed silly if you ask me!! The first time I had to change all the numebers from 100005677 to 000005677 Don't know why. News now seems as before, if not a little slower! The last upgrade was a major replacement of the customer facing news servers. They started from scratch, not attempting to get them in sync with the old servers. This means that the article numbers restarted. I'm pretty sure this is the only renumber that Demon have done this year so your other one must have been a funny. Also you can't be in demon.announce, as they highlighted this "feature" of the news server upgrade several times and gave basic instructions on what to do. Demon.annouce is very low volume, 3 or 4 articles a week, and does give useful information about the status of Demon and any planned outages/problems. -- Cheers newspam@nexus.demon.co.uk Dave. I suppose it doesn't matter that much, and I suppose it's my own lazy nature in not designing better filters, but my average daily news download is about 2mb. (Why on earth I use such a waste of your bandwidth I don't know. It;s like chucking bottles into the bin instead of recycling them:-)) Cheers Chris -- /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ Chris H.
