Isn't In-Joy + Static IP address from Demon wonderful.

With 3 or 4 FTP sessions, a IRC client, and a few
other bit's and pieces running, I've just logged off
with In-joy, rang for a pizza, reconnected
to Demon, and all the sessions were still
running fine!!!

I know it's not that good, but it tickled me!!

Cheers
Chris

You can do the same with IBM's PPP.EXE as well. Just kill it and
provided you are quick enough, so that individual sessions don't time
out, they pick up where they left off. Nothing particulary wonderful,
just what one would expect with a robust packet based network. Remember
that TCP/IP was developed by the military to survive all out war.

Granted d.i.s.o is hardly the place for this, but I had assumed the
story about the internet being built by the US militery as a
disaster resistant communications infrastructure to be apocryphal.
At least thats what the very knowledgable bod on BBC2 led the world to
believe some time last year.

Now on to more important stuff. What toppings did you have on your
Pizza Chris and if there's any left can you email me some for
breakfast :-)
