Has anyone managed to install TP 16-bit version on OS2 Warp3 using OS2's
version of Win 3.1 ?
As far as I know there is no version of TP using native OS2 code.

Install, yes, no problem. But make it work? Not a chance. The
dialler refuses to see the COM: ports, and it won't use the OS/2
IP stack so the OS/2 dialler doesn't help.

Also tried (for amusement value only) when I moved to Warp 4;
same problems.

Out of interest, why bother? There's enough decent native
software for OS/2 news, mail, web browsing etc not to need Win
stuff.

I use PMInews and PMMail, there are others but I like these.
www.bmtmicro.com has a most of the major (shareware) players available.

Therere are of course many OS/2 ports of text mode applications from the
unix world.

MR2 Internet Cruiser Edition for mail (will also do news if you
ask it to) ProNews for Usenet (you'll need the Y2K patches) both
from BMT Micro.

Netscape Navigator 4.61 for OS/2 (from the IBM website) for WWW.

Java ICQ client from Mirabilis for ICQ.

FTP, Telnet etc - use the IBM provided software.

IRC - haven't used enough to have a favourite.

And think about upgrading to Warp 4 - it'll probably be the last
ever OS/2 client.

worked for me when I last tried it - a couple of years ago

it did not work with the OS2 that was around in 1995, but IBM
subsequently fixed things in the next version

I'd be very surprised if the NTS stack worked ... but you should be able
to use Turnpike in direct network connection mode

There's a strong rumour that there will indeed be a new OS/2 client,
based upon the Warp Server for e-Business server codebase in some areas,
and otherwise consolidating all the existing fixpacks into a single CD
release (making life much easier for those installing on disks bigger
then 4.3GB, etc., etc.)

However, there will be no (significant) new functionality.

(See the ZDNet site.)

Would welcome some suggested session settings then - I wasted
about two days playing around with COM Direct Access etc.

by direct network connection I mean - use OS2 to dial, then run Connect
