Hi, I'm not sure if these are the correct groups but... I have a BT easicom 1000 email phone and am wondering if it is possible to get it to connect to demon for email? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Sean Ferigan seanf@sbus.demon.co.uk

Um, NO. The phone to which he refers is a fixed (land-line) phone.
AIUI, the e-mail is a special provider for that alone, and calls are
charged using some peculiar new tariff which has a per-minute element AND
a fixed charge (i.e. not a *minimum* charge).
There has been some mention in uk.telecom, which is most certainly a more
relevant forum than your suggestions. (If the phone HAD been a cellular
one, then uk.telecom.mobile would also have been more relevant than
getting stuck with a pile of Merkins who don't even use the same
underlying concepts on their mobile networks.)

Try asking in alt.cellular or > alt.cellular.??something?? Beg your pardon?!? It's a fixed line phone - what does that have to do with cellular?!? OK - in short it's a screen phone with caller-ID, home shopping, fax, email, reminders, calculator, notepad, worldtimes etc etc etc, and I think it's a bit of a bargain at 75 If you can see Demon's pop servers in the outside world, you can use it to collect and send your email. Call the number in the book, and they will tell you what to do. It works fine for me and Freeserve, but it WON'T give you CLID notification of email of these "third party" accounts. At the moment, charges are 25p/min, but from 1st Dec., charges will be 12p connection charge+1p/min, which seems more reasonable. -- Jonathan Horniblow - http://come.to/horniblow
