	[- i have a strong suspicion that this is a problem with the
	new, disimproved, demon/thus/clueless+witless mail system,
	and not a failure of gremnos 0.3f, but the fail messages i've
	received may well be peculiar to this version of KA9Q/net.exe,
	so i've cross-posted to dipspc; but follow-up is set to d.s]

	- since some time between wed sep 12 21:33:35 and thu sep 13
	20:07:59 attempting to collect mail from the original base a/c
	(user, wotsit) has repeatedly failed since 20:08:00 after noting
	that the first two emails (always the same two) are one mailkill
	rejected and one to unknown user address (in the scrolling info
	at the net> and in mail.log).

	- the ip no. of the mail machine[?s] to which i'm connecting
	is found as 91.221.168.28:110; the messages received (aside of
	POP3 receive failed: ??? at the net> prompt) in nos.log are:

	- pop3 'top 2 0 failed: ''
	close pop3-smtp: 0/5 messages (0 old)

	- pop3 receive failed: reset/refused
	[this message comes if i close the dial-up connection without
	having received a 'top M 0 failed: '' & close pop3-smtp: 0/N
	messages (0 old) message - i've not included repeats of it] 

	- pop3 'top 4 0 failed: ''
	close pop3-smtp: 0/5 messages (0 old)

	- pop3 'top 4 0 failed: ''
	close pop3-smtp: 0/6 messages (0 old)

	[and most recently:]

	- pop3 'top 4 0 failed: ''
	close pop3-smtp: 0/27 messages (0 old)

	- since long finger doesn't work on the new wonder service,
	i haven't the faintest idea of email size or overt senders on
	mail.demon.co.uk/91.221.168.28:110 - but i've stayed online
	for up to a quarter of an hour on occasion, so i don't be-
	lieve it's any even vaguely-sensibly sized single email as
	is sat there blocking all else.

	- if i can get time tomorrow on one of the local library's
	two machines, i'll see what help the chat-service can offer,
	but am i correct in thinking there's naught i can do further
	to identify the problem, nor solve nor work around it myself?
