Many thanks for your help with this problem.

My set up dials in on 0845 212 1666.

I am using GREMNOs Version v0.3D Large. The time sets even quicker with
GREMNOS than it ever did using the Demon supplied KA9Q.

The line in the autoexec.net file which you suggest has been tried. It
generates the error: "on attempt 1, 480 authentication required, nntp error
while getting news, response was 480, closing news session."

The version of snews I am running is 1.30. Could this have anything to do
with the connection problems with the news servers?

Many thanks or your help.
