- hi; in view of the month-long ongoing near absence of news
from news.demon.co.uk, it might be best to cc. any/all replies:
please cc. to broadbnd _at_ i-m-t.demon.co.uk (well, it seems
reasonable to create such a username for this purpose...)
- i've been offered a broadband deal that looks good enough
to substitute for the lamented, departed BT surftime discount
on dial-up; i'll still need to keep my demon dial-up a/c for
email to @i-m-t.dcu addresses, to retain my homepages and for
the demonic newserver - if it ever returns properly - but,
assuming [correctly?] that'll still work via the phone socket,
what extra/alternatives will be needed to actually take advan-
tage of the broadband connection with dos 'net software, such
as the arachne web browser and, especially, the KA9Q (gremnos)/
pcoak/snews+mods john washington/dis suite?
- the router involved is, i'm informed, to be an
huawei echolife hg520s
which is described to me as a wireless router with provision -
i.e. a socket - for plugging it into a network, which suggests
i'll need to add a network card into the dos computer here.
- any and all help - up to & including a step-by-step walk-
through - not merely welcome, but earnestly (& avidly) sought.
- love, a ppint. happy to have two thrids IMT back open
[the address from which this was posted bounces e-mail;
please change the "f" to a "g" and drop the "v" if you
wish to cc. or e-mail me.]
