Thought the following might be of interest.

I'm running WinDIS (with the Y2K fix) and NewsWin ... expected some trouble
after the 9 to 10 digit changeover on 9/9/01.

Everything seemed OK, until I added another newsgroup, whereupon WinDis
decided it didn't want to unbatch the new newsgroup.

Digging around I discovered that the in the \news\active file, the new
newsgroup had been given a 9 digit figure after the newsgroup name, but
only an 8 digit filename had been created in the \Spool\News\Newsbase
directory.

The active file had the entry as 000055722 as against the filename
00005572.

Adding another newsgroup gave 000055955 and 00005595.

After manually editing the active file and deleting the last digit so that
it matched the \newsbase file, Windis quite happily unbatched properly.
