Apologies if this is off topic. I have just got ntlWorld broadband but still want to use my Demon account. The only way I have found to make them co-habit is to run winipcfg as the very first program after a cold start and select the Netgear LAN interface - then I can access broadband but NOT dial-up. If, after a cold start, I do not run winipcfg it defaults to the 'ppp adapter' and I can go straight into Demon dial-up but cannot access broadband. Curiously if in broadband mode I try to run IE6 I get a blue screen of death showing an error in a vxd called pppmac(4) (or something like.) Restarting IE6 again will usually work but not always - a reboot is sometimes required. I seem to be able to run winipcfg only once immediately after start-up - thereafter it will not run again until I cold boot. With either of these, Windoze hangs at the close-down splash screen and I have to either switch off or press the restart button which then invokes Scandisk as I did not close down properly. If I run both in dial-up all works perfectly including close-down. Running W98SE on Celeron 400 with 128Mb RAM. Anyone any ideas/advice? -- Andrew W. Harrogate, UK woody@tangon.demon.co.uk
