disapearing windows

Wondering if anyone can help?

Two of my programs (ws-ftp and explorer) won't display their windows on
the visible desktop.

They work fine in full screen mode, but when ever I reduce them to a
window they fly of the bottom right hand corner and I can't get them
back.

I've tried resizing the desktop, and tried "cascading" the windows from
the right-click menu you get over the windows system bar at the bottom
of my screen.

Any help, hints tips, as to how I can get my windows back greatly
appreciated.

Oh yeah, I'm using win98 second edition if that makes a difference.

Cheers

I've had similar troubles with Win95b on misc equipment. What
seemed to be happening was that the logical desktop area was bigger
than the physical screen, which is something that you can set up (if
you so wish) with some screen drivers. When this is so, you find
that there are two size-bars in Display -> Settings; make them both
the same! And the windows in question had been moved into the
off-screen area, where you could not get at them. (I believe that
this arrangement is supposed to be associated with automatic
scrolling of the visible section of the desktop when you move the
mouse to the edge; but ime this often does not work.)

Do your other program windows display normally?

Check also that in the settings for the shortcuts you do NOT have
 "start minimized" checked!
