Most start with www. but I see more and more that are www-less - how
does one get a domain / URL to work with no www?

Thanx

The *name* makes not one jot of difference: what matters is that the
hostname translates into an IP address, and that there is a web server
running on that machine, listening (by default, although this can be
changed) to port 80, and that the web server *recognizes* correctly that
a request made to the *name* used by the client is correctly to be served
by the *host* at that *address*.

If you were to deploy a suitable HTTP server on your own machine
busedu.demon.co.uk (since you're using Turnpike, I presume Windows, so
you could use Microsoft's IIS, or something free such as Xitami
<http://www.xitami.com/>) and provided your machine was online and
connected to the 'Net (not difficult, with a Demon account and SurfTime),
then people could connect to *it*, using a request of the form
<http://busedu.demon.co.uk/index.html>, for example.
