All my sound files are recorded from mono 78rpm discs with little or no
sound restoration, and higher/stereo files don't improve things, note
they are only clips not full tracks, and actually we DON'T want to
improve things unless we produce a CD.

Not into mp3, I can make my .wav mono recordings very quickly using
Windows Recorder so quick and easy to edit. Anyway I've got all that
space now.

I don't know what bandwidth is or what to do with it.

I have had to fix one or two since changing PC. How do I find the giffy
jpg?

Those date back to when I knew even less than I do now.
Can you help me there, if I open a gif that is a colour photo do I just
save-as and call it .jpg or .jpeg (what's the difference there?)

As I say, I don't know how to do the optimising, but thank you for the
detailed analysis. I can see that if I knew more about images etc. I
could improve the site.
I very much appreciate your time 'looking' at the site, can I persuade
you to read the pages about 1930's singers? :0)
