Hi There,

I've had my lurker hat on for a while, waiting to see what feedback was
coming back on the newly released new version of the OS. However, no one
has mentioned it in any of the groups I have been in. Also, I haven't
found a web site that properly sings its praises.

Have people in here upgraded, if so what do you reckon?
Does it provide internet out of the box as promised?
Do IDE CDROM drives work without being patched?

I thought this new release would bring about a lot of interest and
discussion, but I have certainly not seen owt yet.

Anyway best go,

Steve

It's been discussed a lot in bit.listserv.i-Amiga and csa.misc of
course. The AA and AF mailing lists have also given it a lot of
coverage. Amiga Active carried a four page review in their December
issue (two weeks before AF's "Exclusive First Review" :) and there's an
OS 3.5 Masterclass in the Jan 2000 issue.

http://www.amiga.de ? :)

It's worth getting.

Yes, but it's basic Internet, as promised. It won't replace existing
commercial or registered software.

> Do IDE CDROM drives work without being patched?

Yes, although only the first unit in my CD Changer works unless I use
IDE-fix.

Yep, even when the news gateway was still open it didn't
usually get too much nonsense (assuming a standard Rue killfile ;)

A "standard Rue"? You mean there's even an RFC for one of those?

Neil - wondering how much havoc a non-standard Rue could cause...

Well there may be a 01/04 RFC on the subject somewhere, and
I'm sure something appropriate could be found in alt.usenet.kooks :)

Might be worth a try :-)
A few weeks ago some guy scanned in two or three pages of something
vaguely to do with genealogy (dunno what exactly), formatted it as a Word
document and sent it to me. It's almost 3 bloody Meg, and I can't even
read it.
Can't (yet) make my Ami-PC parallel link work, and it's much too big to
pass via floppy.

Is there any way of viewing Word docs on the Mig?
A DOpus filetype perhaps?
