I was just given a Classic, (smoother version of the SE - same 68000
processor) and the disk was U/S. I put in the disk from my 660AV with
MacOS7.5 and it works!!!!

Sure beats loading floppies.

There was no IISE. There was an SE - upright box with built-in 9" mono
monitor, and a IIsi - large pizza box with separate monitor.

It certainly sounds like it needs a system disk. You can download Disk
Images of System 7.0.1 or 7.5.3 from the Apple web site, but you'll need a
working Mac to copy them to floppy!

Perhaps the Quadra has a working system disk.
