GURU <http://www.newertech.com> [1] says the "Display adaptor
is required for *Multiple-scan* monitors at 832x624" (my emphasis)

My old 165c would do 832x624 on an *old*, non-multi-scan Apple
16" monitor, but only in 256 colours. (but that's all the
resolution the monitor would do anyway)

If it's an old monitor, then it should work, but if its's
the newer (ISTR 15" or 17") multi-scan one, then I'd call
someone like MacLine for the Multi-scan adaptor.

I don't remember any Apple multi-scan monitors around for Macs
in 1992/93 (when the PB160 was current), so the adaptor is
probably a third party product.
