I've not been able to find any general uk.* guidelines that specify
anything that precisely. I'm inclined to the idea that if there are
such guidelines, and any major difference between what I've proposed and
the `official word' on the subject, it'll be pointed out in the
`official' discussion.

All useful food for thought. I've just tossed a mental coin which has
come down in favour of the idea of leaving out any mention of netiquette
for a number of reasons: firstly, I doubt any mention in the charter
will help particularly; secondly, I suspect uk.comp.sys.mac will be
pretty civilised, and if it doesn't end up that way, no amount of
referring to the charter could possibly help; and thirdly, the sort of
person who *does* regularly breach netiquette in a problematic fashion
is unlikely to take any notice of the charter.
But then again... Sod it:
Posters to uk.comp.sys.mac are encouraged to follow established
netiquette such as placing trimmed quotes before fresh text and using
signatures of 4 lines or less.
Given that this is neither a prohibition nor stronly worded, it should
be enough to stop the demon.local `sig wars' which I've been unfortunate
enough to see in part (cross-posted to uk.rec.motorcycles).
I've posted it as a suggested addendum to the ``Final(?) draft RFD...'
thread; it's probably best to make any comments there so I don't loose
track of things too badly.
I'd like to be able to say something like `Anyone who's a persistant
pain in the arse can expect a napalm enema', but I feel that might give
the wrong impression.
Rowland.
