On the Performa 630, which uses a 68LC040, you could install Mac OS 8. 
You could not install Mac OS 8.5 as it is only for Macs using the Power
PC processors.  I would though not install Mac OS 8 unless you have good
reason to do so as on non Power Macs it is slow.
