How do all you net-folks out there know what speed your modem is operating
at, what the packet loss is like etc.? I can get a character per second
measurement from, say, netscape or fetch but that's just about the only
diagnostic I can find for my internet connection.

My set-up includes a Mac Performa 630 and a USR Sportster Mac&Fax V.34. My
service provider, in case it's relevant, is demon (a UK provider). Any help
will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
