Hello All, I have a Quantum 6Gb internal drive from a G3 minitower that died while I was installing some software. Faulty backups too :-( The drive has been replaced but I would dearly love to be able to use the old drive if I can. I have only used Apple's drive setup to try and format it, but it simply isn't recognised (I've set it to slave otherwise the computer simply locks up). I think that's correct, I'm not too sure about IDE drives, always used SCSI in the past. Can anyone suggest any software to use that might be able to recover the drive or at least format it so I can use it again? The drive spins up ok, nothing else. I can't imagine it would be too serious, as there was no physical damage to the drive, apart from that done from what I suspect was a dodgy intaller. -- Cheers ... Antony

I suggest you let the drive rest in peace. I had a similar problem with an
IDE based Performa a few years back and there was no solution. I tried
reformating with everything. FWB recognized the drive but still I could not
get system software on it, some error about blocks being bad and Norton Disk
Doctor couldn't fix it. As it turned out I think the boot sector was
completely damaged and irretrievable therefore any data was inaccessable. If
you must try I would go with FWB HardDiskToolKit latest edition and give it
a go.TechTool Pro might also help. Good Luck. :-)
