I'm on Demon (of course with a Mac) and use Communicator 4.5 because
everything is sort 'all-in' and I like that facility.

However, am I a loner or do the majority prefer IE4/5 or what?

I used Explorer for a while, but after Communicator got to v4 I switched
back to Netscape, and am currently using 4.5. As you say, it's all in
and does what I want it to. I also find it faster than Explorer.

I still have Explorer on my system and use it for testing my own pages,
along with iCab also. I'd say the best is whichever you get along with.

Antony,

Do you use FreePPP as well or the standard PPP connection? I say this as I
often hear Mac users saying they are having trouble with PPP and TCP/IP. I
don't get any problems

I use FreePPP. Still 1.0.4 as I tried to update to 2.6 and it never
worked, but I never spent any time trying to get it working either, so
it was probably something minor. At the time I had other problems and
couldn't be that bothered with it.

I did use PPP when I first upgraded to OS 8 but I got a raft of problems
with that I couldn't cure. Free PPP cured them all in one go an has been
reliable ever since.

For what it's worth, I'm using FreePPP 2.6.2 with OT 1.3 and sys 8.1. It's
a very nice combination indeed. I was previously using FreePPP 1.0.5 which
was very nice, small and spanner-like, and also substantially more stable
than 1.0.4. The Installation of 2.6.2 over 1.0.5 was an absolute piece of
cake, with a minimum of conversion of the account details; they have to be
tweaked just a little, but it's a simple task.

2.6.2 was definitely quicker than 1.0.5 on a 7500/100 with sys 7.5.2, and
it also lacked a few "features" that had crept into 1.0.5 (mainly evident
when using Addmail). I was very reluctant to switch but am now very happy
that I did.

On a G3, 2.6.2 fairly flies and is very simple to use.

The annoying thing is - Demon claim their helpdesk will not support a Mac
User if they are using FreePPP and insist you use the crappy PPP that is
riddled with problems. I'm the same FreePPP, OT 1.3 and 8.1
