I am struggling to make sense of the features of the newly acquired Pace
Solo. 

One of the problems is that I  am only connecting at around 31-320000 -
7300 using 8.5.1

My son on his IMAC using the same line is getting 40,000!!!

Any suggestions? Anyone else out there with this new Pace wish to exchange
frustrations?

I have a Pace which works fine on 8.5.1 and a G3
I am no techie but when I connect via Demon I only ever get 31200
 but when I connect via Force 9 over cable I always (nearly) get 44000
Try another service provider - a free one.
I reckon your probelm could be at the other end
