OK - what happens if you tell it to call one of Demon's ROMPs? >I'm not sure whether there are specific setting I have to use in >Turnpike or whether there are specific settings I have to make for the >modem (or indeed, if there is a specific demon number I should be >calling) hence my crosspost. The Orange number won't work from Vodafone (you wouldn't want to use it anyway at 50/30p per minute). Though it's not an official service, the Green ROMP will accept 9600bps V.110 calls. If you can get this to work, it will be very rapid, as there'll be virtually no negotiation time. Call +44 845 2120667 (yes - I know that's the ISDN number) with a setup string of AT+CBST=71,0,1 (this is a standard GSM AT command for selecting a 9600bps V.110 asynchronous call, though the Psion might differ). So, first off, I'd go into Hyperterminal, connecting directly to the Gold Card's COM port. Type: AT&F AT+CBST=71,0,1 ATD +448452120667 If that connects, you should be able to logon to Demon before you can't do anything useful (as you've got no PPP client available). Next, try it again using the 'Psion Dacom GSM Gold Card GSM' modem - set the setup string to AT+CBST=71,0,1. If that works, transfer the lot to a DUN connectoid, and see if that works (make sure you unset 'Logon to network' and turn of IPX/SPX and NetBEUI). If that works, then the only possible problem remaining is getting Turnpike set up and happy. If you can't get V.110 to work, any of the Demon analogue numbers should work without a setup string - certainly Green and Red will, and I can't see any reason why Purple shouldn't. However, this will increase your connect time whilst the modem in Vodafone's data rack negotiates with the modem in the NAS. Maximum speed on Vodafone at present is 9600bps. More than that, I can't really help you, for though I use Vodafone with Demon, I use Nokia kit, not Motorola/Psion kit. Also, I don't use Turnpike's dialling facilities.
