Another drop problem - Pace Microlin

I'm having problems using the Pace Microlin FX32 Plus internal modem (version
2 BIOS) on COM 2, connecting to Demon via Microsoft Internet Explorer on Win95.

Here's what is happening - used the setup string in MODEM.TXT, can connect to
Demon, but can't connect to any web pages. Seems I can use FTP and telnet if
I use the actual IP addresses, not names. Even then, my connection seems to
stop in the middle of downloads etc. Setup proxy server on Explorer, and now
can connect to Web pages - but can't get the pictures without the connection
screwing up again!

Listening to the phone, it sounds like Demon is trying to send data, but my
modem just isn't responding... until eventually it disconnects, probably due
to time-out.

It's driving me crazy! There doesn't appear to be any IRQ conflicts or other
nasties like that. Anybody have any ideas? I think all the host IP addresses
for DNS etc. are correct...weird.

Darrell
