A friend has a Dell XPS D333 Pentium II system with 128mb Ram (2 x 64mb) He wanted to increase this. The motherboard has 3 dimm slots and the manual states it can take up to 384mb. As Dell have already filled two of the slots, he wanted to fill the third with a 128mb dimm. When this was done, on boot up evrything was fine till Win 95 started abd said there was an error with the display settings. Basically, it would not accept anything but basic VGA. While accepting there may have been some problem with the new memory, this was swopped for another - same result. However, take out the 2 x 64, put in the 2 x 128mb - same result. Tried all other permutations and no way would this machine work with more than 128mb ram. With any permutation of 128, it worked perfectly. Anyone any similar experiences or am I missing something ? Thanks for any pointers
