What is ES1868?

Hi, I know ES1868 is a programme, but is it something that will crash
windows95 if I delete it from Config.sys.

The background is that I have a Gemlight GMB-P56SPC mainboard with a
P200MMX cpu and I'm trying to change this for Commate S7AX mainboard
which will then take more modern cpus -at least up to AMD K6-2 350.

However everytime I change the board Windows95 falls down saying it
can't find ES1868 even though the programme is correctly pointed to.
This happens with the Gemlight board as well but with it, it just
reports a failure & carries on loading ok; Whereas with the commate,
it just grinds to a halt with a dos screen. The cmos/bios setup
error interupt level is the same for both boards.

I don't want to remove the line calling ES1868 (it seems to be in
every variable in config, sys) unless I am certain I can restart the PC
to replace the line if Disaster does happen.

Note: I don't know _that_ much about PC workings as I normally use
another system which I do know intimately and although similar in some
respects the differences are enough to frustrate me. So please tailor
your replies at the willing novice scale not the laidback expert
level

Thanks for any help.
