Yes its the MRBIOS that allows the sound to be turned off, actually it
is not important to tun the sound off, mor important to free up IRQ5,
the I/O port and DMA channel that the vibra uses.

The newest SB16's have an EIDE drive interface, this will pitch up as
the third or fouth controller depending on the SB jumper settings.
} Does this mean that I could have the TEAC
} CD-56E CD-ROM EIDE ATAPI (6X - 900kb/sec sustained data xfer rate)

} hard disk controller + IDE Seagate drive be affected?
You were doing so well, but this bit is very difficult :)) You need to
read and understand the MRBIOS FAQ which explains how mode 3/4 and a
secondary channel can interact ( it is not at all good, this may have
been fixed in the Triton II chipset but basically you can't set the
two controllers at different rates unless the second one is very slow
AIUI.

You can put the Teac on the SB16. The CDROM hangs off the sound card.
The SB Value docs say nothing about data rates however 900kb/s is
pretty slow so I do not expect even if the ISA bus is running at
8Mb/s, which it probably is, that the SB will slow the effective
thoughput of the CDROM. I expect someone will correct me if I am wrong,
again.
