Don't be so sure. I have found the generic S3 drivers very good with
both a couple of Diamond cards & a Spea. I wasn't convinced that the
manufacturer specific drivers were any faster although there were more
variations in colour depth/resolution available.

Don't use the drivers that come with NT but grab the latest drivers
from www.s3.com.
