Erm,
1. No. Only boards that are designed for the Triton chipset can use it.
AFAIUI Intel make the chips, but not only Intel make boards that use
them. Lots of (poor?) clones out there.
2. Chronologically it's Zappa, Endeavor, Atlantis IIRC. Can't speak for
the Zappa (I was still struggling with a 486 and besides I don't like
his music!), Endeavor has Triton chipset & on-board SB16, Atlantis adds
on-board ATI Mach 64 video I think. I have an Endeavor. Socket 7 models
are better then Socket 5 - will support faster cpus.
3. Don't know (Endeavor has 4 PCI), and don't know. JB will suggest
Armari (0181-810-7441) - they flog SuperMicro boards which are reputedly
very good and seem to have more slots than most. I came close to getting
one for these reasons.
Pick up comp.sys.intel for much more info.
