I have almost the same problem. I have just bought a Canon BJ300 and manuals
from somebody. He had used it connected to a Win3.1 pc so I thought it
would be fine on my win95. I selected the Win95 driver called 'canon bj300'
but it just prints symbols and page feeds.

The printer self test works fine with all the right fonts.

The dip switches are already set as I would expect from reading the manual
ie to emulate an IBM Proprinter. Even when I select a win95 driver for
the IBM Proprinter it prints garbage. I use the 'print test page' from
the 'add printer' win95 utility. I also tried printing from notepad. All
to no avail. The dip switch settings I use are
First row: 1 and 2 are on
Second row: 2 and 5 are on

Any clues?
