I suffered similar problems, especially with Lemmings. Upper memory
appears as 0k used, 0k available, 393216 reserved. My problem
manifested itself while attempting to run lemmings. The sound card
drivers used too much conventional memory. the only workaround I have
been able to discover to date is to use the 32bit drivers supplied in
windows 95, in my case for the cd-rom and sound card drivers, To
ensure these are used, create a short cut to the program, right click
the icon, select properties, program tab, click the Advanced... button
and make sure the "MS-Dos mode" box is unchecked. This means the pc
will not restart upon running the program and the 95 drivers should
still be running (and hopefully working!).

I know this doesn't solve the basic problem but its the best I can do
at the moment..
